Thanks to the collaboration between specialists in the fields of microbiology, molecular genetics, technical physics, energy efficiency and plant engineering, architecture and safety technology, the cause / effect relationships between factors of different nature (microbiological, molecular, plant engineering, architectural, functional, etc.) can be studied, in order to assess the pollution factors in high / medium risk environments and to recognize and modify its repercussions in terms of health.

Recent European population ageing forecasts have highlighted that the number of older people is bound to rapidly grow in the coming years and that the economic impact of the aging society will be significant in all EU countries. 

In this perspective, healthy, active and independent aging, for as long as possible, is a fundamental goal to be pursued by the whole community, as it can lead to an improvement in the quality of life and a great cost saving. 

In this scenario, digital technology can be at the service of healthy aging, also by enhancing the tools and devices available and allowing the development of new support paradigms, such as medical treatment and home care, in any place and at any time, with quality and sustainable costs.
